Helen not only knows WordPress design, she knows the technical workings of websites and how plugins may or may not be a good option for you. Helen provides maintenance packages so your site coding stays up to date, which closes any possible security holes. A lot of other web developers are "build and bail", offering little to no monitoring of your site's coding or health after your website is finished.

FAQ

How much does it cost to build a new website?

The real question is how much does building and maintaining a website cost! Every client and their business is unique. However, on average, it costs either:

  •  $3,500 - $7,000 for a custom website and $400/month for website care and maintenance OR
  • $800 - $1,000/month with a 12-month contract to create/refresh a website plus provide monthly upkeep and maintenance

Incorporating digital marketing tasks will increase the overall cost and monthly retainer amounts.

A note for the do-it-yourself startups and small businesses with limited budgets: Website builders cost $0 - $2,000 annually plus your time. (I'd recommend choosing a paid option to avoid advertisements on your website.)

why do i need a maintenance retainer?

A website care plan or maintenance retainer gives you peace of mind, knowing that your website is in good hands, regularly updated, and functioning at its best. It allows you to focus on your core business activities. At the same time, professionals take care of your website's maintenance and support needs, such as:

  • Security against hacking, malware, and data breach threats
  • Performance optimization to provide a better user experience
  • Content updates to keep your website fresh and relevant
  • Technical support to quickly address and resolve website-related issues
  • Backup and recovery in the event of failure or deletion

Why do i need digital marketing?

The internet is a crowded place where consumers go to research products and services and shop. Digital marketing increases your company's online visibility on search engines, social media platforms, and other online channels, making it easier for potential customers to discover you. In addition, it helps you target your ideal audience, is cost-effective compared to traditional marketing methods, is measurable, improves customer engagement, and is easily adaptable based on consumer behavior and market trends.

can't i do it myself?

Yes, you can. Creating an online presence is vital for startups and small businesses with a limited budget to reach customers and establish credibility. Use a website builder like GoDaddy, Duda, or Squarespace to build a website. Their predefined templates will help you create a professional site at an affordable price. When you hit the limitations of your website builder (lack of uniqueness, no ownership, minimal support, and many more), it's time for a custom website created by a professional web designer/developer.

Are there any projects that you don't take on?

Yes, there are several types of projects I don't take on.

  • I typically don't work on e-commerce sites that sell products. While I have done so in the past, most of my ideal customers don't require an e-commerce aspect on their site.
  • Additionally, I don't take on startup businesses because they need more budget for a website and the frequent scope changes that go hand-in-hand with establishing a new company and brand.
  • Furthermore, I prefer not to provide one-time services since clients usually need more than a quick fix. I believe in building lasting relationships and ensuring your online presence is cared for properly!
